At SOUL, we don’t just plant trees. We teach about, advocate for, and take care of them as well. Here are the four ways we “branch out” into the communities we work in:

1. Community Forestry Project – We plant large, native trees one neighborhood at a time to reduce flooding, slow subsidence, lower ambient temperatures, and improve the community health of New Orleans.
2. Educational Series – We explore the importance of urban trees and their impact on our environment with community partners, professionals, students, and anyone who wants to learn more.
3. Advocacy – We protect and preserve trees on public and private property by championing a no-net-loss tree policy for New Orleans.
4. Volunteer Programs – We provide volunteer groups from around the country with a memorable experience working in New Orleans’ urban forest.
