SOUL partners with the New Orleans Department of Parks and Parkways on all of its public tree plantings- trees planted on neutral grounds and in the rights-of-way (strip between sidewalk and street).
The process for getting a tree planted through SOUL is:
- Attend one of SOUL’s info sessions when possible
- Please review the city’s guidelines about planting public trees.
- Fill out a permit application and submit it via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Complete SOUL’s online tree planting agreement.
Please note that tree planting season in New Orleans is November – March. The earlier in the season that trees are planted, the higher their chance is for survival.
