Whitney Tree Planting Community Meeting
October 7 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Calling all Whitney community members!
Local nonprofit, Sustaining Our Urban Landscape (SOUL) will be continuing efforts to green up and cool down the Whitney neighborhood in Algiers in 2023 – 2024 as part of the New Orleans Reforestation Plan. SOUL’s planting area will be from Opelousas Ave to Patterson Dr between Hendee St and Thayer. This community-wide tree planting effort will increase the tree canopy in Whitney by up to 10% coverage, creating more shade, lowering energy bills, drinking more stormwater, and providing beauty in the neighborhood. We want to hear from you
As part of this initiative, SOUL will be hosting a free and public community meeting to share the latest updates. Community members and leaders of the Whitney neighborhood are invited to join to learn more, ask questions, and share feedback about the tree planting project.
